WORKING FOR BB&N Small Necessities Leave Bereavement Leave Massachusetts law provides for 24 hours of unpaid small BB&N grants bereavement leave for the death of an immediate necessities leave for FMLA-eligible employees to be used for family member. Employees are eligible for up to 5 days paid leave. the following: BB&N de昀椀nes “immediate family” as the employee’s spouse, parent, spouse’s parent, child, sibling, grandparent, grandchild, or member 1. to participate in school activities directly related to the of the employee’s household. educational advancement of their children (e.g., parent- teacher conferences); BB&N requests that the employee notify their manager as soon as possible of an intention to take bereavement leave. Employees may, 2. to accompany their children to routine medical and with their manager’s approval, use any additional and available time dental appointments (e.g., vaccinations or checkups); o昀昀 as necessary (e.g., vacation leave, unpaid leave). and 3. to accompany a relative (at least 60 years old and related by blood or marriage) to routine medical, dental or other professional care appointments (e.g., nursing home interviews). This unpaid leave may be taken intermittently or on a reduced leave schedule. BB&N requires, however, that employees apply any accrued but unused vacation time for such leave. The substitution of paid leave does not extend the 24 hours of leave granted under this policy. Military Leave A military leave of absence will be granted to employees who are absent from work because of service in the United States uniformed services in accordance with the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act. - 16 -
