UPPER SCHOOL Generally, full-time teachers in the Upper School are responsible for the following as part of their jobs: • Teach four classes (4 class meetings per week, typically 2 or 3 class preps) • Advise a group of 4-8 students in grades 10-12 (beginning in year 2 of employment) • Ful昀椀ll additional “standard” responsibility outside of the classroom, to be determined in consultation with the Campus Director, Athletic Director, Department Head, Dean of Students, and/or DEIG Practitioner Additional attendance/involvement expectations include: • All department meetings, FACT Meetings, Friday Stand-Up Meetings • All-School professional days (August, October, February, June) • Afternoon all-school meetings four times per year (unless involved in a school obligation, such as coaching or theater rehearsal) • Admissions events (e.g., Open House, revisit days, evening receptions) • Closing Ceremonies and Graduation • Opening Orientation Activities • Back-to-School Night • Weekly Assemblies • Re昀氀ecting upon and preparing for the next school year Additional responsibilities outside of the classroom can be categorized as follows: 1. Leadership Positions: These roles involve signi昀椀cant time on task, both during and outside of the school day. Typically, these involve a course reduction. ~Academic Department Head + Stipend ~Senior Spring Project Coordinator ~Bivouac Director ~Math Placement Coordinator ~Grade Level Dean (in some circumstances; under review) ~Vanguard Faculty Advisor 2. Standard +:- Responsibilities (comes with a stipend to re昀氀ect the time and e昀昀ort beyond that of a standard responsibility) 8-10 hours of work per week for the year (on average) ~Debate ~Category 2 Coaching positions (standard responsibility + coaching; see below for recruiting/non-recruiting di昀昀erential) 3. Standard: Responsibilities include those which represent 3-5 hours of work per week, full year (on average) or 15 hours/week in 1 athletic season ~Service Learning Coordinators (2) - DEIG ~Student Council ~Diversity Steering Committee/Student Diversity Steering Committee - DEIG ~Publication Supervisors (CHASM, POV, Spectator, Society) ~Travel Exchange Coordinator/Global Education Ambassador Program - DEIG ~Robotics Club ~Math Team ~Disciplinary Committee ~GAINS ~Model UN ~French Language Coordinator - 35 -
