YOU CAN NOW TAKE UP TO 26 WEEKS OF PAID LEAVE THROUGH MA PFML The majority of the benefits provided by the Massachusetts Paid Family and Medical Leave act went into effect on January 1, 2021. The MA PFML allows employees to take paid, job- protected leave for a variety of reasons. DID YOU KNOW? N E W S L E T T E R As of January 1, 2021, you may take up to 20 weeks of medical leave to manage your own serious health condition. You may also take family leave to bond with a child during the first 12 months after a child's birth, adoption, or foster care placement (up to 12 weeks), to care for a family member who is a member of the Armed Forces, National Guard, or Reserves who are suffering from a serious health condition related to their deployment in a foreign country (up to 26 weeks), or to manage family affairs while a family member is on or been called to active duty in a foreign country (up to 12 weeks). Beginning on July 1, 2021, MA PFML also extends family leave coverage for up to 12 weeks to care for a family member with a serious health condition. NEED TO APPLY FOR PFML LEAVE?
