MIDDLE SCHOOL Generally, full-time teachers in the Middle School are responsible for the following as part of their job: • Teach 3-4 classes • Serve as Advisor: ~Every day: Co-lead Homeroom & lead Advisee meetings (Refer to Advisor 411 to understand all components of this role at the MS for full list of ongoing expectations and more detail w/both internal and external roles) ~Every day: Supervise E Block/ Supervise designated campus spaces on MS rotation and meet with Advisees & students: (Manage daily E Block Trackers, goal/re昀氀ections, LP, attendance tracking documents, etc.) • Teach Co-Curriculum: ~Co-teach Grade Level Co-Curriculum/Advisory Curriculum each week (Prep for Thursday class w/ Homeroom partner each week) ~Grade Teamwork: Contribute to curriculum building and grade-based discussions/meetings about student well-being, growth, and development on a regular basis • At the MS level, as developmentally appropriate, daily faculty duties and supervision are signi昀椀cant and required to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our students. All MS faculty members are expected to participate in the regular rotation of the following faculty duties: ~Break: Snack set up/Distribution/Supervision: inside/outside ~Lunch: Set up//Clean up/ Supervision: inside/outside ~Driveway: AM/PM ~Cell phone: AM/PM ~Daily E Block supervision: space rotation/ indoor& outdoor and/or access for direct extra help, 1:1 time with students • Ful昀椀ll additional responsibilities beyond the classroom as follows:to be determined in consultation with the Campus Director and/or Athletic Director ~Leadership position ~One Group A responsibility and One Group B responsibility ~Three Group B responsibilities Middle School teachers who take on two Group A responsibilities will be eligible for a $1,000 stipend. Note that responsibilities and duties may change as the needs of the Middle School program shift. Additional responsibilities beyond the classroom can be categorized as follows: • Leadership Positions: These roles involve signi昀椀cant time on task, both during and outside of the school day, as well as summer. Most of the time these positions reduce the need to ful昀椀ll additional responsibilities. In a limited number of circumstances, often when someone assumes more than one leadership position, 昀椀lling these positions may result in a reduction in teaching/advising responsibilities. ~Department Head ~Grade Dean role ~Advisory Co-Curriculum Team Leader ~New Faculty Mentor role - 33 -
